Built through layers of texture, muted colour and small figures, the painting and collection as a whole is less about depicting swimming literally, and more about capturing a feeling. Movement, freedom, solitude.

The figures appear and disappear within the surface of the painting - just a fleeting moment of their day.

For me, water becomes a space where everything feels lighter, where things are removed from every day life. It can be peaceful and restorative. Women Swimmin' is an exploration of those quiet moments of escape - of women simply existing, moving, floating, and taking up space.
